Winter Lecture Series feat. Nitin Deckha, PhD

Date and Time: 2012-03-29 11:00am - 1:00pm

Location: GH424, University of Guelph-Humber (207 Humber College Blvd.)

Join Prof. Deckha for his lecture, "Underachieving, Uncertain, Un(der)employed: The New Reality for Today's Young Man?" and a reception to follow.

All University of Guelph-Humber students, staff and faculty are invited to attend.

In his talk, Nitin Deckha, PhD asks, what’s going on with today’s young men?  From lower test scores, lower rates of enrolment in higher education to higher rates of unemployment, so many young men seem to be underachieving, disengaged and unprepared.

Dr. Deckha will explore this problem by examining studies from North America and beyond. Pop culture representations of young men and masculinity as well as emerging insights from Deckha's own research on young men’s educational experiences and perceptions of success will also be discussed.

Prof. Deckha has been teaching in the Justice Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2006.

This is the final event in the 2012 Winter Lecture Series presented by Academic Services.
