Awards
Families of the Year Award
A family fosters strong, positive relationships and mutual support. These are important values at the University of Guelph-Humber.
This award recognizes the contributions made by families to student success - to the entire university community.
A selection committee made up of faculty, staff and students choose recipients, who are recognized with a special gift at Convocation and a permanent plaque displayed in the University of Guelph-Humber building.
Nomination Guidelines
Submit a Letter of Nomination of no more than 500 words that explains the role your family has played in your experience and success as a University of Guelph-Humber student. Noteworthy contributions may include:
- Ways in which your family supported you in your decision to attend university (emotional, financial, etc.).
- Examples of encouragement and assistance your family has provided during your studies.
- Evidence of your family’s enthusiasm for the University of Guelph-Humber.
- Other unique ways in which your family has supported you in your accomplishments in your life outside the university.
Nominations are to include the following
- A completed nomination form
- A letter of nomination (described above)
- Any additional documentation illustrative of nominee’s suitability (i.e. letters, pictures, etc.)
Deadline and Selection Process
The award recipient(s) will be decided by a selection committee made up of faculty, staff and students who evaluate nomination packages (as described above).
Nomination packages are due by 4:30pm on Friday May 11th, 2012 in the Student Services office (GH108).
Michael Nightingale Community Enrichment Award
This annual award honours the University of Guelph-Humber's first Vice Provost. From 2001 to 2005, Michael Nightingale’s vision and dedication were critical in shaping students' experience inside and outside the classroom.
This award recognizes a graduating student who has contributed to the University of Guelph-Humber community, beyond his or her own program of study, and shares Michael Nightingale’s commitment to enriching life and learning at the university.
With this recognition, the student receives $1,000, a certificate and a permanent plaque displayed in the University of Guelph-Humber building
Nominations:
Individuals or groups are encouraged to nominate a graduating student for the Michael Nightingale Community Enrichment Award. Noteworthy achievements of nominees may include:
- Increasing student involvement in campus life and learning
- Strengthening the sense of community between the University of Guelph-Humber and Humber ITAL
- Encouraging, supporting or facilitating student/faculty interaction
- Advocating on behalf of the needs, aspirations and interests of all University of Guelph-Humber students.
Selection Process:
The selection committee evaluates nominations made by University of Guelph-Humber students, faculty and staff.
