Carri-Ann Scott has taught at the University of Guelph-Humber since January 2020. She has a Kindergarten Specialist designation from York University and a Trauma and Resilience certificate. Scott’s research interests include the effects of technology on child development, early literacy strategies, and professional collaborative relationships in school settings. Her current Ph.D. research dives into the affirmation and acceptance of neurodiversity in children in the school system. 

Carri-Ann brings her passion for Early Childhood Education to all her classes at Guelph-Humber.  Working with children and families for more than 20 years has contributed to a deep reservoir of anecdotes, tips and tricks that she incorporates into her lessons to ensure that students have far more than a theoretical knowledge of teaching. 

When not in the classroom, you can find Lego fanatic Carri-Ann enjoying the calming effects of the water on a paddleboard.

Theo Selles has been teaching at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2012. Selles is a Registered Family Therapist with 25 years of experience offering therapy to individuals, couples, families and groups. He earned his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Guelph in 1993 with a thesis on adolescent suicide. A highlight of his career was when he was chosen as the Master of Ceremonies for Toronto’s United Nations International Day for People with Disabilities in 2009 due to his work with Epilepsy Toronto. Selles maintains a private practice and provides trauma debriefing, resiliency training, mental health wellness workshops, and teambuilding services to organizations.  Selles' business— Integrity Works helps people live meaningful, purposeful, productive, and ethical lives at home and at work. He is a regular on-air contributor to AM900 CHML. His latest book, The Heart of the Pearl is a guide to overcoming abuse.

Valerie Trew has been teaching at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2017. Valerie is the Director at the University of Guelph Child Care and Learning Centre in Guelph, Ont. As a Registered Early Childhood Educator with a Master of Arts in Leadership, she also teaches in the Bachelor of Applied Science program at the University of Guelph and the University of Guelph-Humber applying a lens of social and environmental justice to studies in policy, administration, and leadership. Valerie views teaching, from early learning to post-secondary, as a political act and does so with a view to provoke radical social transformation towards a post-colonial world. She has spent 20 years working in children’s services through post-secondary education, regional government, early intervention, and early learning and child care. Holding a certificate in Plant Based Nutrition, Valerie is also passionate about transforming our food systems for human and planetary health and to end oppression.
