Dave Kydd has been the Assistant Program Head of the Family & Community Social Services (FCSS) program at University of Guelph-Humber since 2014. Kydd brings to this position over 25 years of experience in the social services sector. His experience includes direct service work in the fields of developmental services, child welfare, children’s mental health, and hospital outpatient mental health. Kydd has also served in industry leadership roles as coordinator of the outpatient mental health programs at William Osler Health Centre, and clinical director at the Oxford Elgin Child and Youth Centre.  His past and ongoing contributions to the Family & Community Social Services program include developing and coordinating the annual FCSS See|Change Symposium (a student-led event that provides a forum for leaders in transformative social change to share their inspirational ideas and experiences with University of Guelph Humber students), coordinating the FCSS field education program, coordinating the Field Placement Advisory Committee, and teaching clinically oriented coursework to students in all levels of the program. Kydd is currently in the process of completing his PhD in education at the University of Nipissing. His doctoral research focuses on social work field education, and in particular the promotion of praxis in the integrative field seminar setting.
