Guitar for the Soul: Beginning your journey

Date: Thurs Jan 28th, 2021

Time: 2-3pm

Facilitator: Jacob Hrajnik, Audio-Visual Technology Specialist, University of Guelph-Humber

Format: Online through Teams (web link will be provided to registered participants)

Description:

Join us at 2pm on Thursday, January 28th, 2021 for a crash course in guitar performance and finding yourself on a lifelong journey with a new instrument. Led by the University of Guelph-Humber’s Audio-Visual Technology Specialist, Jacob Hrajnik, a guitar player with over 15 years of experience. Jacob will walk us through the guitar’s anatomy, and show us a chord vs riff approach to learning songs. Playing the guitar on screen alongside Jacob is optional, but inexpensive guitars can be acquired ahead of this program from either Amazon or by rental at a Long & McQuade Musical Instruments retail location. We will be learning how to play Fleetwood Mac’s biggest hit “Dreams” a song that can be played with only 2 chords! Though only a primer for guitar, the objective of this webinar is to inspire new players to potentially seek a life of both musical pursuit, and the enrichment of the human spirit through one of the purest universal binding agents we have: music!"
