Addison

Meet Addison C.

Graduated 2020

"The Media program exposed me to all the different media sectors. I learned the basics of Photoshop and photography while also understanding how to craft a press release and a news article. One of my favourite classes was learning about the regulations and policies to protect Canadian media, whether TV, film or music."

Extracurriculars

  • Executive Member, Humber Residence Council

Work on campus

  • Digital Media and Communications Assistant, Student Recruitment & Admission Services

Addison was a fantastic addition to the Student Recruitment team. The role brought out the creative side of Addison that lead to strong social media content where Addison was often on both sides of the camera. Addison assisted on projects such as the reoccurring series What's Up Wednesdays. There was never a typical day. His responsibilities included taking photos on campus for posts, interviewing students and staff on campus, administration duties and assisting with video and photo shoots.

  • Event Crew, Student Athletic Association
  • Student Model, Student Recruitment

You may think Addison looks familiar. Addison was one of our many student models for photos taken on campus for use in our University publications, such as the Viewbook, used in our social media and/or website.

Media internship

  • Communications Assistant, Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television

"My internship gave me a jump-start in the field. It helped me understand the Canadian media industry and the importance of protecting and celebrating Canadian content."

Where is Addison now?

Digital Coordinator, CTV, Bell Media

"The Canadian media industry is small, but filled with UofGH alumni. Everytime I see a fellow alum it's like there's an instant bond!
I came to UofGH with a narrow career vision in mind, but that was opened to a much wider view of all the possibilities and career paths the Media Studies program can offer. It gave me interests that I never would've had otherwise, and a full skill set I use everyday."
