UofGH's Early Childhood Studies Assistant Program Head, Elena Merenda's op-ed discusses sex education as an important aspect of inclusive education. She argues that sex education teaches children about their overall health, and that they have control over what happens to their bodies. She stresses that these teachings also help children understand gender, identity, and love, and that reverting to the old curriculum could put children and our society at rick in respect to prejudice, discrimination, and child abuse. Elena Merenda is the Assistant Program Head of the Early Childhood Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber and has more than 10 years of experience in early childhood education, early learning, therapeutic play and settings, and supporting families with children who have special needs.
