UofGH Early Childhood Studies experts explain children’s grief during Covid-19 quarantine and how parents can respond

In an article for the conversation Canada, Early Childhood Studies Program Head Dr. Nikki Martyn and Assistant Program Head Dr. Elena Merenda discuss children’s emotions in Coronavirus quarantine. The Early childhood experts explain how change related to COVID-19 has created feelings of grief for both children and adults and emphasize the importance of supporting children’s unique grief expressions during this difficult time. To facilitate children’s expression of grief, the two suggest that parents should provide their children with simple and honest information and to encourage expression in any way that is comfortable and healing to them.
