On Feb. 19 the Toronto Star published an article looking at existing and upcoming research into police culture in Canada. UofGH Justice Studies instructor Joe Couto and his research on LGBTQ police officers and their experience in the workforce is highlighted as part of the discussion. Couto points out  that “while the work environment is improving, some gay officers still feel police culture is ‘unaccepting’ and ‘an old boys’ network, ’” and that more research in this area is exactly what is needed.
