Psychology faculty Dr. Lillian Campbell passed away May 15, 2015, losing her battle with a rare, incurable cancer.  She was an instructor at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2008, where she taught counseling and psychology courses.

Throughout her career, Campbell advocated for students diagnosed with learning disabilities; her research focused on supporting their development of academic skills and learning strategies with the use of computer assistive technology.

In a previous interview with UofGH, Campbell spoke of the educational inequities she’d noticed among students unable to attend regular or special education classes within a community school.  On her research aimed to tackle this inequity, she said:  “One of our greatest successes was we provided [these students] with academic success.  They realized that they were doing something on their own.  In that sense, we were using education as treatment.”

Program Head, Psychology, Dr. David Danto calls Campbell “a great teacher.”  “Her passion for the subject matter undoubtedly enhanced the motivation of our students.”

“Her warmth as a teacher and mentor is something we are forever grateful for,” he continues.
