Families in Action

Family donations providing resources and learning tools

In February 2011, the University of Guelph-Humber Learning Commons opened the doors to a practice presentation room for students. The room allows students to practice group and individual presentations using state-of-the-art presentation software. Students are able to record screen shots, use PowerPoint slides, add dialogue, and create and playback video.

The room was met with such overwhelming success that a second practice presentation room was built at the end of 2013.

The presentation rooms were made possible through the generous donations of families to the University of Guelph-Humber Parents Fund.

Family donations creating international learning experiences

Family donations help bring valuable learning experiences to life for students at the University. A prime example is the Guelph-Humber Travel Grant, established by the Vice-Provost’s office in 2014.

The travel grant is available to students who have enrolled in any of the six study abroad courses offered during the summer term (May – June) to assist in the costs of the trip. This grant was made possible by donations to the Parents Fund. Thank you for supporting student access to experiential learning!
