Media & Communication Studies Internships

In your fourth year, participate in a 240-hour internship. Gain practical experience and build a network of contacts.

Meet with faculty and/or your Career and Placement Coordinator in the semester prior to the start of your internship if you need assistance sourcing opportunities.  Students can find opportunities for internships by accessing our Career and Placement portal, GHworks, or external sources, and through networking.

Internships are undertaken after you have completed six semesters (three years).

Internship Requirements

  • Minimum 240 hours 
  • 14.0 credits are required to register for the course. Students must register on Webadvisor
  • Internship courses are offered in the summer and winter semesters
  • Internships can be full-time or part-time 
  • Internships can be paid or unpaid (honorarium/stipend-based) positions
  • Students must self-select an internship that is a field, function or production of media (it does not have to be related to your specialization)
  • Approval forms must be submitted to GHworks and approved by Career & Placement Services prior to the start of your internship
  • Internship hours must be completed, and remaining forms submitted online to GHworks

INTERNSHIP DOCUMENTATION, FORMS & DEADLINES

Your Field Placement Coordinator will provide you with the document deadlines, access to the required forms and GHworks upon registration into the internship course. To upload documents please go to GHworks and sign in using your Gryphmail​ login.
