Italy: The Reggio Emilia Approach to Education

The study abroad course involves a tour of Italy with a focus on the educational methods practiced in Reggio Emilia. Visiting that city’s municipal Infant-Toddler Centers and Preschools, students will gain first-hand knowledge of the core concepts, principles, and values that make up the Reggio-Emilia approach to education. Besides attending lectures given by local educators, students will tour the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre along with the Documentation and Educational Research Centre. In addition, there will be an opportunity to explore Italian history and culture, with visits to Venice, Parma, Modena and Rome.
