IGNITE Awards

The IGNITE Student Union has a number of awards available to recognize and assist students in their academic journey. To apply for specific scholarships and bursaries, please review the information listed below and submit the appropriate application. 

IGNITE Bursary

The IGNITE Bursary exists to ease financial stress. Whether it’s tuition, textbooks, groceries or unexpected costs, you deserve to focus on what matters most: your student experience. All full-time domestic and international students are eligible to apply for the $500 IGNITE Bursary.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • be a full-time student paying full-time ancillary and tuition fees
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, protected person or Study Visa student
  • demonstrate financial need (proof of expenses may be required)
  • demonstrate commitment to my program of study
  • Not have received any IGNITE Financial support during this academic year

Equity Scholarships

Black Excellence Scholarship

The IGNITE Black Excellence Scholarship was created to recognize ten outstanding students and upcoming leaders within the Black community at Humber Polytechnic and the University of Guelph‑Humber. Recipients of the $1,000 scholarship are selected based on their academic standing, their demonstration of leadership and community involvement, and their financial need. The application consists of three short questions with an option to upload references.

To qualify, you must:

  • be a full-time or part-time student currently enrolled at the University of Guelph-Humber
  • be in good academic standing in your program
  • identify as Black
  • have demonstrated leadership experience and/or community involvement

Pride Scholarship

Each summer in honour of Pride Month, we offer the IGNITE Pride Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is granted to five students from Humber Polytechnic and the University of Guelph-Humber’s 2SLGBTQ+ community. With this scholarship, IGNITE hopes to offer better support and alleviate some of the financial hardships disproportionately affecting 2SLGBTQ+ students.  

To qualify, you must:

  • I am a full-time or part-time student currently enrolled at the University of Guelph-Humber in the Summer 2027 and/or Fall 2027 semester. 
  • be in good academic standing in your program 
  • identify as 2SLGBTQ+ 
  • have demonstrated leadership experience and/or community involvement
