Convocation ceremonies at the University of Guelph-Humber are held in June. This is when degrees and diplomas are conferred to students who successfully complete programs as prescribed by the university. It’s a wonderful time of celebration for students and their family and friends.

Convocation 2021

New! Check out the Graduation FAQs and Convocation Checklist for up to date information regarding Spring 2021 virtual Convocation celebration and Live Reception.

The University of Guelph-Humber continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and your well-being and the safety of students, families and our campus community remains our top priority. After careful consideration, the University has made the difficult decision to postpone in-person Spring 2021 Convocation ceremonies until it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we are working to create a memorable virtual Convocation celebration to honour our newest graduates. This celebration will allow us to mark the accomplishments of both our Fall 2020 and our Spring 2021 graduates.

To mark your Convocation, you will receive a keepsake box with your degree and diploma parchments, mortarboard and other commemorative items starting the week of June 21. To ensure that you receive your package on time, please confirm that your permanent mailing address are up to date in WebAdvisor by June 1.

Our Spring 2021 virtual Convocation celebration has been set for Tuesday, June 29 at 4:00 pm, followed by a Live Reception hosted by Alumni Services and sponsored by IGNITE at 6:00 pm. The virtual Convocation will include pre-recorded program-specific ceremony videos, personalized graduate cards, and #GHgrad digital swag – including an interactive photobooth to help you celebrate at home! A link will be shared to your Gryph Mail to view the Spring 2021 virtual Convocation celebrations closer to the date.

Please email if you have questions.

Personalized Graduate Card

You will have the opportunity to create a graduate card that can be personalized with your photo and a message. You will also be able to provide a recording of how to pronounce your name in order to hear your name announced as you view the card.

The deadline to submit your information was Friday, June 11. Winners of the contest to win 1 of 25 digital caricature drawings will be contacted by June 18. Graduates who completed the submission form will have a graduate card hosted on our Convocation website to download and share as a digital keepsake on Tuesday, June 29. Graduate cards will not be included in the pre-recorded ceremonies. If you chose not to complete the form to create a graduate card, your name will still be included in the pre-recorded convocation ceremonies during the roll call at the end of the ceremony.

Convocation Reception

The Live Reception is a great place to connect with your classmates and celebrate your accomplishments with your friends, family, and supporters. At the Reception, we will have a variety of programming including opportunities to interact with classmates and other UofGH faculty and staff, as well as entertainment, prizes, and fun.

The reception will be hosted virtually via Hopin. Registration for the live reception and event details will be available starting Wednesday, May 26. Graduands will receive an email to their Gryph Mail account from the events platform Hopin to register and create a profile for the event.

Please email if you have questions.
