Explore the ancient world of Artemis through digital mapping, archaeology, interactive activities, and a journey across her sacred landscapes
Join us for Mapping the Journey to Artemis, a three-day interactive exhibition at the University of Guelph-Humber, November 24 - 26, 2026!
Discover the ancient world of Artemis, Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, and protection, through an exhibition that brings together archaeology, ancient history, digital humanities, and modern technology.
Funded by the 2026 University of Guelph-Humber Research Grant Fund, the Artemis Mapping Project is a women-led research initiative dedicated to documenting and digitally mapping ancient temples and sanctuaries across Europe and Asia. Using archaeological evidence, historical sources, field photography, and ArcGIS technology, our research team is creating a living digital archive that connects ancient sacred landscapes with the modern world.
Led by ancient historian Dr. Carla Ionescu and her undergraduate research assistants, the exhibition invites visitors to explore the stories behind these sacred sites and discover how digital humanities can help preserve and share cultural heritage.
Come explore, participate, and reconnect! Enjoy interactive activities, including archery, meditation, and opportunities to engage with the research, alongside displays of ancient sanctuaries, photographs, and digital maps. Whether you're interested in mythology, archaeology, history, technology, or simply curious about the ancient world, everyone is welcome!
