The Longo Family Be Your Own Boss Program is a seven-week entrepreneurship initiative that brings a high-profile Entrepreneur in Residence and external mentors to campus to guide students through launching their own businesses. This program strengthens the university’s local and broader presence by engaging community partners, fostering long-term mentorship relationships, and positioning the university as a leader in innovation and entrepreneurial education.
Program Description: This multi-session workshop series brings students from all campuses together at the University of Guelph-Humber for three foundational workshops:
- January 12 – Ideation Workshop
- January 26 – Market Research Workshop
- February 5 – Feasibility Workshop
Each session includes an engaging presentation, hands-on activities, opportunities for Q&A, networking, and complimentary snacks.
Students can continue building their skills by attending additional workshops at Humber's North Campus on:
- January 15
- January 22
- February 12
- February 19
Students who attend 5 out of the 7 workshops become eligible to enter the program’s video pitch competition for a chance to win a share of $40,000 and have their ideas reviewed by the Longo Family.
