Every Child Deserves a Heart Filled with Happiness
Please join us on Wednesday, September 30, as we observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2026
Members of the GH community are invited to drop by the GH North Atrium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to take part in interactive activities that provide opportunities to learn, reflect and engage with Truth and Reconciliation, including:
- Rock painting
- ReconciliACTION Passport
- Library Pop-Up
A fire will burn throughout the day at the wiigiwaam (see directions, below), with sunrise and sunset ceremonies held at 7:14 a.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. The fire and ceremonies are open to the public.

Directions to the Wiigiwaam
To visit the wiigiwaam, exit the campus through E Building at Humber, beside Gourmet Express. Walk toward the Arboretum. In front of the main entrance to the Child Care Centre, you will see an archway made of branches and ribbons. Follow the path through the archway down the hill* until you see the Butterfly Garden sign on your right. Enter the Butterfly Garden, where the wiigiwaam is located.
*Accessibility Note: The path includes a hill. Participants who require assistance are encouraged to reach out in advance to Dr. Elena Merenda at elena.merenda@guelphhumber.ca.
