Together, we mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30. This annual day honours the Indigenous survivors and children who never returned home from residential schools. This painful chapter in Canada’s history is ongoing, as Indigenous parents and communities are still experiencing the deep, painful loss and trauma of the government taking their children away and stripping them of their cultures and traditions.

Commemorating the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, is a profound part of the reconciliation process with Indigenous peoples. The University of Guelph-Humber honours the tragic history and lasting impacts of residential schools through a day of healing and reflection.

Please save the date. The day’s event details will be shared soon.
