Safety & Security

Your safety and security is of the utmost importance to us. We collaborate with Humber College’s Department of Public Safety to offer the best safety and security features and services to our staff, students and faculty.

Emergency closures

Keep an eye on our home page as well as Humber College’s homepage for any emergency campus closures. If we have to close the school due to an emergency, we will attempt to notify you.

Emergency management

We have a dedicated University of Guelph-Humber Emergency Response Team that directs staff, students and faculty during emergency situations. We also prepare for emergencies with regular fire and lock-down drills. Humber College’s Department of Public Safety makes sure that we’re all safe on campus.

Lost and found

You can turn in or claim lost items until 5pm at the Information desk, located near the main entrance in the University of Guelph-Humber building. After 5pm, we turn lost items over to Humber College’s Public Safety desk in the NX building, where they remain for 30 days.

Campus Walk

Campus Walk is a free service that provides a walking partner to accompany students and staff to their car, on-campus residence, a bus stop or anywhere else on campus.

Car trouble

If you have car trouble on campus, call 416-675-8500, dial extension 8500 from an on-campus phone or use one of the emergency phones around campus. The Humber Emergency Auto Response Team (H.E.A.R.T.) is here to help with any car trouble you may experience on campus.

Alert Button

All telephones are outfitted with an Alert Button that functions like a silent alarm to discretely notify Public Safety to send someone to investigate right away. The Alert Button does not replace the 4000 Emergency Line.

Work Alone program

If you’re working outside of normal business hours, the Work Alone program can give you the comfort of knowing that you’re not alone. Once you check in with security, they will send a security guard to check up on you from time to time.
