Fatima Nisham

Fatima Nisham (she/her) is an academic leader, educator, researcher, and mentor with extensive professional experience in postsecondary education, curriculum development, experiential learning, and student engagement. Her doctoral research examined work-integrated learning, undergraduate employability, and labour market outcomes across Canadian postsecondary institutions. She holds an MBA from the University of Wales, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Management from the London School of Economics, United Kingdom.

She has presented her work at national and international conferences and contributed a chapter on organizational change leadership to The Bloomsbury Handbook of Values and Ethical Change in Transformative Leadership in Higher Education.

Her previous roles include serving as a professor at George Brown Polytechnic and as a sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto and Trent University. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes inclusive, student-centred, and experiential learning that connects academic knowledge with professional practice. She has also mentored Startup founders through Futurpreneur Canada.

Her commitment to leadership and community service extends beyond academia. Previously, she served as a Board Director and member of the Finance and Audit Committee at YWCA Durham, providing oversight of financial strategy, budgets, audit processes, risk management, accountability, and organizational sustainability.

Beyond teaching and research, Fatima has contributed to curriculum development, academic committees, community governance, and student mentorship. She is passionate about building meaningful academic collaborations, supporting student success, and designing learning experiences that prepare students for their academic and professional journeys.
