The micro-gallery commemorating MMIWG2S+ people, children can be found on the 4th floor of the Learning Resource Commons

Today is Red Dress Day. We honour the lost lives of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two Spirit, and Gender-Diverse people (MMIWG2S+) and children through this micro-gallery in the Humber and University of Guelph-Humber Library. It is one of many micro-galleries located across Canada, collectively known as The Canadian Library, and serves as a living memorial.
Each book is wrapped with fabric purchased from Indigenous businesses and one of the names of the thousands of lives lost is stamped onto each book’s spine. The Canadian Library creates visual lessons to honour MMIWG2S+ and children, and raises awareness and opens conversation about the wrongdoings and inequities in Canada.
Visit this gallery on the fourth floor of the Learning Resource Commons in the Humber and University of Guelph-Humber Library and learn more about this project at The Canadian Library.
As we commemorate these lost lives, we invite you to explore these reading guides and resources from our library, free for members of the Guelph-Humber community, to learn more about Indigenous peoples:
