University of Guelph-Humber’s (U of GH) Kinesiology program opens doors to a wide range of career options, helping students discover a job they love. Recently, eight Kinesiology alumni returned to campus to prove it.

The alumni shared their unique journeys to inform, inspire, and guide current students who are curious about what to pursue after graduation, whether that’s graduate school or stepping straight into their dream career.

“What really stuck out was that Kinesiology is such a diverse program — there are so many different pathways. It's not just physiotherapy or strength and conditioning, or [chiropractic care],” fourth-year Kinesiology student Beatrice Abiog said.

The alumni speakers are shining examples of the options students have upon graduating U of GH:

  • Sarah Annis, class of 2023: Physiotherapy resident at Athlete's Care Sports Medicine Centres
  • Julian Bommarito, class of 2019: PhD candidate in human health sciences
  • Maryrose Bruzzese, class of 2023: Clinic coordinator at Life Time Inc.
  • Jennifer Kor, class of 2024: Doctor of Chiropractic candidate
  • Robin MacKinnon, class of 2023: Physiotherapy student
  • Taryn Mori, class of 2023: Strength and conditioning coach at RCVRY Room
  • Samantha Neves, class of 2019: Registered nurse (cardiac) at Halton Healthcare
  • Hailey Roblin, class of 2019: Registered kinesiologist and community program supervisor at City of Markham

“[Listening to this panel] gave me a lot more clarity and peace of mind because it is really scary as a fourth-year student balancing [grad] school applications and thinking of what's next in life,” Abiog added.

The alumni may have taken different career paths, but they share one commonality: an enthusiasm for what they do for a living.

“[I was inspired by] listening to their passion about the career that they chose and how they got there, as well as how they hit roadblocks but then persevered,” said fourth-year Kinesiology student Sushmi Gajendiran.
