New Student Checklist (Online)

Welcome, new student! You're so close to the start of your degree. There are a few things to do between accepting your offer and starting classes. Follow this handy checklist to prepare for your first semester at Guelph-Humber. 

June

  • New Student Guide: This guide will help you navigate through your next steps.
  • Technical Requirements for Your Program: To ensure that your have the best learning experience online, review the list of systems and software requirements for your online courses.
  • Transfer Credit Assessment (transfer students only!): Review your assessment carefully. Transfer credits will be posted on WebAdvisor before your Fall registration window begins.
  • Preparing for Fall Registration: Your Academic Advisor will provide you with information about your program plan, course schedule and registration.
  • Check your GryphMail regularly: GryphMail is the best way to get in contact with staff, instructors and your peers. Login with your Central ID and password.
  • Academic and Financial Deadlines: Academic deadlines are located within the Academic Calendar. Financial deadlines are listed on the Student Financial Services webpage.
  • Registration Deposit: All students are required to pay their registration deposit. Payment deadline and instructions can be found here.
  • OSAP and Government Aid: Apply for Government Aid. The Student Financial Services office can answer questions about OSAP.

July

  • Course Registration on WebAdvisor: Students are responsible for self-registering into courses. Registration dates can be found here. Use the how-to videos and tip sheets to navigate through registration.
  • Accessible Learning Services: ensures that any student who identifies as having a disability has access to their academic environment. More information can be found here.
  • Tuition and Fees: Students who have registered into their Fall courses will be able to see their tuition and fees on WebAdvisor in late July.

August 

  • Online Orientation: CourseLink is your online classroom. Complete your self-directed orientation to familiarize yourself with CourseLink.
  • Course Outlines and Textbooks: Review your course outlines and purchase your textbooks. Required textbooks are listed on your course outline and are available for purchase at the Humber bookstore.
  • Digital Student ID Card: New students will be provided with their Humber username and password. You will need these credentials in order to create your digital ID.

September

  • Tuition and Fees: Pay your remaining balance before the payment deadline to avoid late fees.
  • Course Outlines and Textbooks: Review your course outlines and purchase your textbooks. Required textbooks are listed on your course outline and are available for purchase at the Humber bookstore.
  • Student Services and Supports: Student services at Guelph- Humber and Humber Polytechnic are available to you throughout your time at Guelph-Humber.
