University of Guelph-Humber recognizes top entrance scholarship recipients

Brilliance, hard work, and dedication are tenets fostered at the University of Guelph-Humber (U of GH) – and are qualities seen in the students who earned the Founders' Academic Merit Scholarship and the Vice Provost Entrance Scholarship.

Each year, U of GH awards new students with entrance scholarships based on their grades, as well as extracurricular involvement and demonstration of leadership. Congratulations to the students who received entrance scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Founders' Academic Merit Scholarship

This Founders’ Academic Merit Scholarship recognizes academic achievement, leadership, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Each year, U of GH awards recipients of this scholarship $9,000, for a potential total of $36,000 over four years of full-time study. The selected students are considered if they have a minimum admission average of 90 per cent, are enrolled as full-time students at U of GH, and are entering post-secondary studies for the first time.

Ava Agostinelli, Media & Communication Studies 

Ava Agostinelli is passionate about balancing academics with volunteering and engaging in extracurricular activities. Throughout high school, she has participated in events like community clean-up initiatives. She has also spent the past two years as a volleyball coach, where she proudly served as a mentor, helping younger athletes build confidence and develop skills for the sport. These experiences have shaped her into a strong communicator, a team player, and a leader.

Camryn MacIsaac, Kinesiology

Camryn MacIsaac is a dedicated student leader. A long-standing captain of her high school's flag football team, she led her team to multiple playoff appearances and had the opportunity to represent Simcoe County at the Girls’ High School Provincial All-Star Tournament. And as a premier-level Highland Dancer ranked second in Ontario, MacIsaac competed internationally and advanced to the Junior World Highland Dance Championship Finals in 2025. 

Beyond athletics, Camryn helped establish many school events and traditions at her school with the student government, Ravens Cup, and Relay for Life organizations. She also developed meaningful connections with individuals in her community with intellectual disabilities through the Best Buddies Program and as an inclusion summer camp leader, supporting those who are non-verbal, autistic, or have other needs or exceptionalities.

Danielle Hancock, Justice Studies 

Danielle Hancock is dedicated to her studies and to serving the community. Outside of school, she has run workshops and hosted events focused on mental health, addiction, and wellness. She strives to create spaces where people can come together, feel supported, and have open conversations about topics that can sometimes be challenging to talk about.

Being able to make a difference in the community through this work is something Hancock says she’s “really proud of” and plans on continuing as a Guelph-Humber student.

Elise Moretto, Psychology 

Elise Moretto leads with passion, community dedication, and a genuine commitment to helping others. Through mental health advocacy and youth mentorship, she works to create supportive and inclusive environments. She has brought this collaborative spirit to roles like soccer coach, lifeguard, and swim instructor, where she supported and mentored young athletes. 

Creative and dependable, Moretto also explores photography and visual storytelling, approaching the medium with purpose and a commitment to making a positive impact.

Irene Maria Joseph, Kinesiology 

Irene Maria Joseph brings academic excellence, leadership, and a deep commitment to service. For two years, she served as her high school's HOSA Vice President and Sports Medicine Educational Leader, mentoring and guiding peers in health and sports medicine. A faith-centred leader and accomplished public speaker, Joseph has represented youth internationally and contributed to her community through Chaplaincy, Music Ministry, and autism-focused volunteer work.  She also received the Ontario Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Award for completing 813 volunteer hours.

Jillian Jansen, Justice Studies 

Jillian Jansen has demonstrated a strong work ethic and a commitment to supporting and uplifting others. She has volunteered with Safetynet Children & Youth Charities, community theatre, and peer support programs at her high school. Additionally, as a team member and as a leader Jansen participated in the Youth in Policing Initiative in 2025 and 2026.

Lana Karameh, Early Childhood Studies

Along with her strong academics, Lana Karameh has shown a commitment to supporting the community through leading charitable initiatives. This has included organizing over 35 donation drives and distributing over $8,000 worth of food, clothing, school supplies, and other essentials to families in need, as well as founding the “Her and Us” initiative that supports single mothers and families through community outreach.

Karameh is also a gold medal recipient at the TDSB Skills Competition and a bronze medal recipient at the Skills Ontario Provincial Competition. Beyond the classroom, she enjoys working with children as a sports, dance, and arts instructor.

Styles Hansen, Early Childhood Studies 

Driven by passion and creativity, Styles Hansen excels as a student, athlete, leader, and mentor. Beyond her academic achievements, Styles has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and community through athletics, the arts, mentorship, and volunteer work. 

As an elite varsity softball player for the Humber Hawks, Styles extends her leadership off campus as a trusted competitive team captain and youth mentor dedicated to developing young softball players across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. Additionally, her creative accomplishments include being published four times in OK.KO.OK. Magazine, earning her a speaking invitation alongside Indigenous Wisdom Keeper Dr. Duke Redbird, as well as contributions to projects recognized by the Toronto International Film Festival.

Vice Provost Entrance Scholarship

Students who receive the Vice Provost Entrance Scholarship possess the highest final admissions average for their respective cohort. Each recipient receives $5,000 per academic year over four years of full-time study, for a potential total of $20,000.
