"My most memorable moment this past season was winning the Ontario Championships [with the Humber Hawks]. My team had lost the first two sets, which meant the opposing team only needed one more set to win it. We trusted each other and remained confident in our program and our athletes, even when it seemed as though our backs were against the wall. We completed a reverse sweep."
Explored deep brain stimulation through placement
Sydney Lytwyn
Sydney was one of two U of GH students completing a notable placement with Dr. Taufik Valiante’s Neuron to Brain Laboratory at UHN’s Krembil Brain Institute, furthering her knowledge of neuroimaging techniques and neurodegenerative diseases. Activities for the deep brain stimulation study she was part of took place at Toronto Western Hospital.

Veronica Wood
Through her placement with the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), she conducted research and read complex literature about executive functioning, then translated that information, writing about the topic in plain language at an eighth-grade level. This led to making the information accessible to a public audience.
Collaborative Online International Learning
Monique Roberts & Marina Moore
Monique and Marina participated in an innovative global learning activity over two semesters, a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), where they research perceptions of memory and fictional media. Through COIL, students work in virtual teams to solve a problem with learners from around the world, teaching students how to work across different time zones, with others from different cultures.
Ethics Competition

Earlier this year, the student-run Psych Society hosted the Ethics Competition for the first time. The aim of the event was to allow students an opportunity to apply their knowledge in a fun, interactive way, without the added pressure of academic grading. Students formed teams to solve an ethical dilemma case study for about 15 minutes using structured analysis, then presented it to a panel of judges.
Our graduates take their Psychology education in many directions, pursuing advanced study and careers across psychology, health, law, business, education, public service, and beyond.
