University of Guelph-Humber hosts 4th Science Rendezvous, a free, interactive, all-ages event
The University of Guelph-Humber (UofGH) is “over the moon” to host their 4th annual Science Rendezvous (SR) event.
This free, interactive, all-ages, science event is part of the national Science Chase event taking place virtually across Canada on Saturday, May 8th, where participants will make their way across the country, completing activities & challenges, all from the convenience of their own device at home. The focus of the SR event is to bring Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) to the broader community through the lens and innovative minds of post-secondary students while igniting the spark of curious minds.
This year, the theme for the Kinesiology Science Event in partnership with Astronomy in Action is “Take Me To Space!” – participants will visualize their trip to space where they’ll then learn about how the human body eats, sleeps, exercises, practices hygiene, and maintains personal wellness all in a weightless environment. In keeping with the main Science Rendezvous #STEAMgreen theme, participants will also learn about climate change on earth from space! Space-based imagery and video will allow for a better understanding of Earth’s context in our universe. We’ll also discuss life-sustaining properties of different planets which will really emphasize the fragility of our own environment here on Earth and how important it is to think green here in 2021!
Also, check out our live presentations and meet our students. Just click on the links below.
Participants can expect to engage in a mix of pre-recorded activities as well as live, synchronous events where they can interact in real time with our students and partners, including Let’s Get Together, who will be recruiting volunteers for STEAM related opportunities and answering questions related to post-secondary education.
Register today at http://bit.ly/UofGHSR2021 and join the UofGH Students for this “out of this world” experience!
