UofGH celebrates its literary community at Authors Appreciation Mingle

The University of Guelph-Humber recently celebrated the literary achievements of UofGH’s recognized instructors and staff at the second annual Author Appreciation Mingle.

Organized by the Academic Services and Library Services departments, the event featured a light reception as staff and students alike mingled and explored the published works of the UofGH community’s many academic authors.

"The Author Appreciation Mingle gives guests an opportunity to learn more about the professional accomplishments of some of our faculty and academic staff," said Alicia Sam, Senior Faculty Support Office & Events Coordinator, Academic Services.

"It helps others see them through a lens that stems beyond the classroom. It's a nice way to not only recognize these individuals but also celebrate the great things that are happening within our academic community."

"The work instructors do in the classroom is appreciated, but it is informative and inspiring for everyone on campus to learn about the research and writing instructors do outside of the classroom," added Sue Hunter, Acting Manager, Library Services. "The event was a great opportunity to display publications and have instructors available to discuss their work with students, colleagues, and staff."

To continue to celebrate the University of Guelph-Humber’s assembly of authors, Library Services has established The Atrium, the UofGH institutional repository. This digital resource – available to all – collects, preserves and makes accessible the scholarly and creative output of UofGH instructors and staff.
