Renata Guidi

Business
Dr. Renata Guidi has taught at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2020. She is an Associate Professor at the Yorkville University in Toronto. Her areas of interest are Business Analytics, Performance Management, Business Decision Analysis, Innovation and Strategy. Dr. Guidi holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte-Brazil. Her Ph.D. field research was done under the supervision of the prominent Professor Stanley Lewis Engerman at the University of Rochester (USA). Professor Engerman is known for his quantitative historical work along with Nobel Prize-winning economist Robert Fogel. Dr. Guidi holds a Master’s degree in Marketing from the University of East Anglia – UK, and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - Brazil. At the University of Guelph-Humber, Dr. Guidi teaches Introduction to Business Analytics course, as well as an instructor with the Faculty of Business at Humber College in Toronto. As a researcher, Dr. Guidi has several publications in recognized international journals as well as she has just published her first book, Institutions, Efficiency and Brazilian Professional Education.

Robert Gumieniak

Dr. Robert Gumieniak has been a Kinesiology instructor at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2017. Dr. Gumieniak holds an Honours Bachelor Degree in Kinesiology from York University, where he also obtained a MSc degree in Occupational Physical Employment Standards. Dr. Gumieniak’s doctoral research included the development and implementation of a physical employment standard for safety-related occupations. Dr. Gumieniak has published several peer-reviewed publications in the area of physical employment standards. Dr. Gumieniak is a CSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist and has been an active member since 2005.

Mohamad Haniff

Justice Studies
Mohamad Haniff has been an instructor in the Early Childhood Studies, Justice Studies, and Family and Community Social Services programs at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2007. Haniff operates a consulting company whose clients have included provincial and federal health ministries. Haniff is a fierce defender of human rights and was a conciliator with the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and previously, taught social work at York University, Centennial College, and George Brown College. He also taught case management at the University of Toronto and McMaster University. Haniff has worked in social welfare, correctional services (correctional officer, probation/parole officer, youth worker, staff-trainer), human rights and social policy at Queen's Park. Haniff has also worked as a senior policy analyst for the Ministry of Community and Social Services, where he was influential in the policy work that led to the passing of the Social Work and Social Service Work Act of 1998. Haniff has had Cabinet appointments to boards of the CCAC system. Haniff was contracted by the Ontario government to establish regulatory colleges.

Alexia Hannis

Dr. Alexia Hannis has been an Electives instructor at the University of Guelph-Humber since 2017. Dr. Hannis is a teacher, writer, and researcher who works at the nexus of literary narrative and ethics. Her teaching and research tend to focus on modern fiction and essays with a particular interest in themes of character and agency, ideological conflict, and the writing life. She has also worked in the publishing industry as a substantive editor, an assistant reviews editor, and a marketing assistant (children’s books). Dr. Hannis has published essays and reviews in various scholarly journals, including English Studies in Canada and Conradiana. In 2010, she won the Bruce Harkness Young Scholar award for an essay she later developed into a monograph on Aristotelian virtue ethics in Joseph Conrad’s fiction; she is currently revising her book for publication under advance contract with the University of Toronto Press.

Lara Harb

Lara Harb has taught at the University of Guelph-Humber since Fall 2021. Harb is a media professor and documentary filmmaker with an MFA in Documentary Media from Ryerson University. She founded The Social Media Artist, a digital marketing agency that helps artists and small businesses develop their online presence. She also worked as a project manager, social media strategist and ads specialist for various industries from medical to hospitality.
