International Applicant Resources
Your Boarding Pass to UofGH
Welcome to the University of Guelph-Humber! We are excited for you to join us in Toronto to begin your university journey. If you have received an offer of admission, make sure to complete the following steps to ensure a smooth transition to campus.
Step 1: Accept Your Offer
Reserve your seat in your program by accepting your offer on the OUAC site, or by completing the admissions response document found in your offer package by the deadline noted. If you do not indicate that you are accepting your offer by the deadline on your letter of acceptance, you run the risk of losing your admission.
Step 2: Canadian Immigration Documents
Apply for a Canadian Study Permit and Co-op work visa. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to ensure ample processing time. More info can be found here.
Step 3: Housing Options
International applicants are welcome to apply for on-campus residence and should apply by the respective deadlines.
Step 4: View the New Student Guide
Next steps on course selection, fee payment, new student orientation, and placement details.
Step 5: Arranging Health Insurance
Full-time international students are automatically covered under our University Health Insurance Plan beginning the first day of classes.* Students are encouraged to review their plan to understand what services are covered.
*If you arrive before the start of classes, it is strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance, including health care insurance, to cover yourself until the first official day of classes.
Step 6: Arriving in Canada
When you arrive at the airport or port of entry you should be ready to present the following documents:
- Your UofGH acceptance letter
- A valid passport
- Temporary Resident Visa if required
- The letter of introduction given to you by the Canadian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate
- Document showing financial support
- Any other documents recommended by the visa office where you applied
- When you enter Canada you can bring a reasonable amount of clothing, books and other personal items. If you’re bringing more than $10,000 (CAD) into the country, you must report the money.
Step 7: Banking and Phone Services
Find the phone and banking provider that’s right for you.
